Eric,

It is correct that the user exit does not get the currently active log.  I'm
not sure that backing up the currently active log is useful.  It may be in an
inconsistent state.  This will result in the ROLLFORWARD DATABASE failing.
Which will require that you restore the database and rollforward again (minus
the inconsistent log.)
