Toni,

I have just finished a TSM 3.7 implementation course within the past month
and thought that it was a good introductory/beginners course. Being new
with working with this software, I thought that it gave enough information
and training exercises to get you up and running fairly smoothly while
giving you a basic idea of what is going on. To give you an idea of what
type of things were covered in the course, here is the course outline for
the class that I've taken:

Unit 1: Tivoli Storage Manager Overview
Unit 2: Installation, Packaging and Licensing
Unit 3: TSM Server Administration
Unit 4: Implementing Client Functions
Unit 5: Policy Management
Unit 6: Central Scheduler
Unit 7: Event Logging, Reporting and Monitoring
Unit 8: Database and Storage Pool Backup and Recovery

Since this is a fairly large amount of information to disperse over the
course of four days, at times I was overwhelmed with information and
questions. However, the trainer that we had seemed to be well qualified
and fielded all questions competently.

Hope this information is useful to you.

Cheers,
Norio Loftis/Tivoli Systems

Hi Toni,
Well its been a few years since I had my ADSM training, but one of my
colleagues
took an
ADSM version 3.1 implementation course with IBM Southbank in 1999 and his
verdict was
that it was reasonably useful, if heavily biased on the client side, and he
would give it 7 out of 10.
We actually wanted the course to be more biased to the host server set up.
So I think the lesson here is to find out as much detail about the course
as you
can to make sure that it meets your particular requirements.
John

can
take a class in the UK before the yr runs out pls drop me a line.

TIA

Toni
