I think the recommedation is to use mirrored copies using the TSM method for
performance, but we simply have them in a RAID-5 set for better availability
and ease of configuration.

Dear all,

I need advice which RAID Levels (RAID0, RAID5, non-RAID) one should use for
best performance/availability:

TSM DB Volumes
TSM Log Volumes
TSM Diskpool Volumes

As far my knowledge goes about TSM I know that I should place the DB on one
disk and the log on another disk with TSM mirroring or hardware RAID1. This
is common practice for all DB's.

I am pretty unsure about the diskpool volumes. Will the client sessions
generate large sequential writes (non-RAID) OR will there be random writes
in place (RAID0).

Hardware: IBM RS/6000 with SSA disks.

Any help appreciated!
