a) Use the ADSM SCSI drivers.
b) The concept of volumes changes with a MANUAL library, as you seem
to know. It looks like you went ahead and did a DEFINE VOLUME
on this tape. With this MANUAL LIBRARY expect to receive
these MOUNT REQUESTS, if you do not see the tape when doing
a QUERY MOUNT, then ADSM does not recognize the tape as
MOUNTed even though its in the drive. To fix run...
QUERY REQUEST
REPLY <the three digit number you see>
If you have problems with this, go ahead an attempt the SCRATCH volume
option which can work with MANUAL libraries. Essentially run
your dsmlabel or LABEL LIBVOL, set MAXSCRATCH above 0, and
let the STGPOOL worry about DEFINING VOLUMES. You'll still
be prompted ot mount volumes, but it should work.
c) Another thing in general you may need to keep a watch on is MOUNT
RETENTION
in your DEVCLASS. After a period of time, an idle tape can DISMOUNT.
