Yes, it is the sure and secure way. If you can, you may firs try to move
the readable files away from that tape, this improves recovery.
We have done this several times, without any problems.
BTW before recovering or deleting this volume we take Q CONTENT (yes I know
it takes long) and inform the owner of theses damaged files.

I've got a tape that's looking real bad. If all of the files on the tape
are unreadable and I do an audit volume fix=yes, will this remove all file
entries on the tape from the database? I think so. So, should I really be
doing an update vol access=destroyed and a restore vol instead?
