   Are you sure this is a new tape? According to your display, this tape is
already in a storage pool called TAPECOPYPOOL, so you must check the tape
into the library as PRIVATE ie. STATUS=PRIVATE on your checkin command. The
"Scratch Volume?: Yes" means that the tape was part of a scratch pool, not
that it is a scratch tape now.
       I also see that  "Access: Unavailable" so that would also have to be
reset to readwrite or readonly before it can be used again.
       The Q LIBV command will tell you what volumes ADSM thinks are live
(PRIVATE) so there is no point checking them into the library if it is
scratch tapes you need.

        That gives me a new problem as shown below.  I tried this with a
new tape
and the process worked, but I can't find the tape.  I assume a new tape has
to be
assigned to a storage pool.  Is there anything else I need to do to add new
tapes.

Here is the current error.
