hi-all,

i run the following command (with and without the pending parm) to
scratch offsite empty tapes from the copy pool.

update vol * access=readw wherest=empty,pending wherestg=copypool
whereacc=offsite

this command has run for over a month now but hasn't updated any
volumes.
i do a display, and find there are many vols that meet the criteria.
does anyone have any idea why this command is not updating these vols?

p.s.   i ran:

update vol * access=readw wheredev=tapeoffsite wherest=empty

and this worked!!!   (tapeoffsite is the devclass for all copypool vols)

          why did this command work and not the other?
