Backup of HPUX version 7 filesystem
1996-01-31 11:03:17
Hello,
I am trying to backup an old HP9000/375 machine that is running HPUX 7.
(yes it still exists !). My problem is that the ADSM 1.2.10 hpux client is
incompatible with the old version of hpux. I get the following message when
I try to execute dsmc :
./dsmc: Executable file incompatible with hardware.
So, I tried mounting the filesystems on another machine via NFS and then doing
the backup via ADSM and NFS but unfortuantely the root privileges don't work
across NFS (access to certain protected directories). HPUX 7 has no "-root="
option in its /etc/exports file (at least not that I've been able to find).
Has anyone out there got any bright ideas for backuping my hpux-7 filesystems
with ADSM (and if anybody suggests upgrading HPUX I'll scream !).
Bob.
