RE: [NV-L] SNMP trap receipt on HACMP interface

Thanks but we're migrating to ITM 6 and many of Netviews
functions are well represented there - in addition to that, the Netview for ITM
agent looks excellent. I'm not looking to add MLM to the equation - one more
moving part. I can engineer supression of the events on the non-active side of
the cluster - so in a worse case scenario my trap senders send to both
destinations (which is actually how we handle traps with NetView
today).
I was just longing for Utopia here I
think.
You may want to look at
an MLM as your trap receiver for your NetView/Tivoli
installation.

PM To: Tivoli NetView Discussions Subject: [NV-L] SNMP trap receipt on HACMP
interface
ITM6 / FP04 / IF09 on
AIX 5.3
Greetings NetView
gurus. Has anyone configured NetView (or anything else with a trap reciever)
in an HACMP environment under AIX 5.3? (sounds probable).
If so, can you tell me
if something special is required to get the trap receiver to listen on the
virtual address of the server? I can get it to receive on the physical address
for the active side of the cluster - mind you I am using the ITM6 SNMP trap
receiver but in general Tivoli guys are clueless about SNMP traps. I'm
guessing this is an OS thing and not a product issue so I was hoping someone
with Netview experience might have a clue.
Sorry to interrupt your
regularly scheduled conversation :)
