Re: forwarding trap to another NetView server

You have a choice other than creating rule sets or an using MLM to perform
trap forwarding to another NetView server. There is a option within SMIT
for NetView that configures options for trapd. There is a specific option
field to forward traps to another NetView. You will have to configure the
field with an <IP address:port number> and restart the operating system.
Make sure you have to have the necessary MIB's loaded on both NetViews for
the incoming traps so that second NetView machine can format the incoming
traps from first NetView machine. Otherwise you will receive unformatted
trap messages in the Event Display. I currently do this type of trap
forwarding between two NetViews servers.

You could also use the NetView MLM component for trap forwarding. The
devices can be configured to send traps to the MLM, and then the MLM will
forward traps to multiple NetView servers. We've had up to four NetView
servers receiving traps from the same MLM server this way.

Subject: forwarding trap to another netview server
Hello !
I need some help, i have a computer that can send snmp
trap to only one manager, but i need to receive traps
on 2 different netview servers (netview 4.2.1 on Aix
4.2) so i want to know how i can forward trap coming
from computer1 to my first netview server and then
from my first netview server to the second one.
I was thinking about a ruleset using:
1) an event attribute node (with the origin field)
2) an action node, in order to use a script that
receive the trap and send it to my second netview
server using the snmptrap command.
The problem is that i can't see how to make such a
script.
Any help would bee gratefull.
