Re: [Veritas-bu] NetBackup 6.5.1 and Exchange 2007
2008-03-19 09:54:13
Cheers Len.
It may be that a DIFF (that someone stated) probably does LOGS only. :-) I do
not have an Ex2k7 System here, but I can only go on what I know and what I would
recommend.
However, I would be unhappy with this.... the originator needs to verify in
the APPLICATION LOG where Exchange 2007 resides that its definetely doing a FULL
BACKUP and purging the logs (look for events that are assocaited with the source
"ESE" and the following type of Event ID's during the start and end of a backup
storage group....
EVENT ID 210, 220 and 221.
Also, be sure that no Anti Virus software is scanning your Exchange folders
while the backup is running. a file level anti virus on an Exchange aware server
is not good. This can actually create a ton of log files!
If you have ANY DOUBTS, do an NTBACKUP of the Exchange Server - to a flat
file or a tape drive (depending on your setup).
NTBACKUP will do a full and purge the logs correctly. This will confirm if
NetBackup is not doing its job correctly.
