Hi Eddie.
There are a couple of settings within NetBackup that
could limit the number of simultaneous jobs. First, check that your
destination Storage Unit will allow multiple jobs. Next, check the "Limit
jobs per policy" setting within your VMware policy. Make sure that
both of these settings are configured high enough to allow multiple
streams.
NetBackup for VMware has been designed to enhance
VMware Consolidated Backup snapshot creation and deletion. Part of this
design is preventing too many snapshots from occurring at once. If too
many snapshots are simultaneously created, the VMware Datastore can be severely
impacted and snapshot creation can fail. This is why you might be seeing a
limited number of jobs running simultaneously with some jobs queued. Once
the vmdk data is safely copied to the staging area on the VMware Backup Proxy,
the snapshot will be released and another job will
immediately commence. In general, during standard backup runs you
should see multiple backups simultaneously occur.
Hope this helps....

Hi All,
I’ve just finished setting up a
policy to backup our VMware environment using NBU 6.5.1. Gone are the days
of bpstart and bpend notify scripts in favor of the NBU Snapshot
Client.
My question to those who have set
this up- is it possible to have multiple VM snapshots occur simultaneously with
a single proxy server? Right now it seems like only one snapshot can be
created and backed up at a time, and the only solution to improve your backup
window is to have a bunch of proxy servers. I see multiple streams in an
active state, but only one stream is actually being processed at a
time.
We’re running NBU 6.5.1, ESX Server
3.0.1, VirtualCenter 2.0.1, and VCB 1.1.
Thanks for any
assistance,
Eddy
