Hello Ed,

The firmware for the IBM 3584 has a recent update to enable support for 10-char labels. We have not try this out.

Subject: [Veritas-bu] Ten-char barcode labels for LTO tapes

A tape manufacturer recently sent us LTO3-type barcode

labels which are 10-char labels (nnnnnnnnL3), but according

to SUN-based label requirements doc, our STK/SUN L1400

library requires 8-char labels (nnnnnnL3). We tried the 10-char

labelss on tapes in the L1400, but it shows them as "??????", or

"NONE".

I've looked but can't find what hardware (if any) would use the

10-char LTO3 barcodes.    Anybody have any idea ??

Thanks,

Ed Scheef
