We couldn't get that to work. Wanted to back up Exchange on our host
"host" using its backup IP "host-bk", because it was behind a firewall.
Always got error 71 or 69 (sorry, can't remember which was in which
circumstance now). Eventually created a local host alias on the
master/media servers to set "host" to IP of "host-bk" and it worked.
Doesn't seem to make any sense in the context of NetBackup but I can
only assume that Exchange somehow knows what name it has been called
with & is looking for databases with that name.

I will confirm that you CAN use an alias. We have a separate backup
interface on our Exchange servers and we're backing them up just fine
using that interface. Different interface and different DNS entry to
point to it.

This is false.
Almost everything in our environment is backed up via DNS entries
pointing to interface on a dedicated backup network. The only
exceptions are very small, very old systems that don't have an extra nic
available and no room to put one.
