if you're using multiple policies with different retentions, or one
multiplexed, the other not....etc, and all are writing to the same tape
pool, then you could have several tapes in that pool that are available,
but not to a particular job.....

you could have up to 8 different tapes, not to mention if you have
another Weekly/Monthly schedule in each policy which has a different
retention (Hopefully at least a week or two longer than your Daily
retention.)

assigned?
Maybe the tape is write protected, or containts something that
cannot be used?

One of my backup policies is failed stating
unavailability of media. But there is media assigned for that policy.
I also checked in Media (GUI) and also in available
media (Goodies) it shows the media is available for backup.

I also checked up using vmquery to find the availability
of the media. It shows correct assigned volume pool. I don't know why
backup is not taking this particular media tape.
