**----- recommended method to expire tape to use -----**
from master server:
check images written to a media run
=20
cd /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/admincmd
./bpimmedia -U -mediaid <media_id>
=20
expire all images on the media:
./bpexpdate -ev <media_id> -d 0
=20
to re-check if images are expired run:
./bpimmedia -U -mediaid <media_id>
=20
Then run vmchange -p <pool_number> -m <media_id>
=20
If you do not know the pool number run $volmgr/bin/vmpool -listall
=20
Use the number represented within the vmpool output like this:
pool number: 5
Good luck,

Subject: [Veritas-bu] Expiring tapes
Hi all,
=20
I have a Solaris9 480r master server running NB5.0 mp3 and a number of
similar media servers. Today I noticed that the tapes in my Oracle
pool, which have a retention period of 60 days don't seem to be expiring
and going back into the scratch pool.
=20
How can I, on the command line, force a tape to expire and then go into
the scratch pool?
=20
Thanks,
Scott
