You may have an issue with bpexpdate not running successfully. If there
are _Any_ database inconsistencies, NBU is designed to do _nothing_ for
fear of improperly destroying data on a tape. Unfortunately, this means
that you will _never_ properly reclaim tapes again.

To check and see if this is happening, look for the following in the
bperror output.

This is what it should look like if it's WORKING:

bperror -hoursago 24 -l | grep bpexpdate

1122528803 1 2 4 host1 0 0 0 bpexpdate bpexpdate Deassigned 0 out of 1
media-ids found.=20
1122572060 1 2 4 host1 0 0 0 bpexpdate bpexpdate Deassigned 0 out of 1
media-ids found.

This is what it looks like if it's NOT working:

bperror -hoursago 24 -l | grep bpexpdate

1122533295 1 2 16 host1 0 0 0 bpexpdate bpexpdate Host host2 not found
for at least one fragment, -deassignempty operation terminated

1122533295 1 2 16 host1 0 0 0 bpexpdate bpexpdate Could not update media
list, host is unreachable=20
1122576537 1 2 16 host1 0 0 0 bpexpdate bpexpdate Host host2 not found
for at least one fragment, -deassignempty operation terminated

1122576537 1 2 16 host1 0 0 0 bpexpdate bpexpdate Could not update media
list, host is unreachable

If you see evidence that it's not working, you MUST open a case with
Symantec to get it fixed. Otherwise, you may inadvertantly use a CLI
command to expire a tape improperly and wreck data.=20
