Not really a problem, we are looking to upgrade to 5.1, and was just wanting
to gather information on windows and linux master servers.

As always the sizing depends on your needs.

Our Master server on Windows 2003 server is a Dell 2850 with 3 GB ram
and 2 x 3,2 Ghz processors, 2 x Emulex LP10000exDC HBA's and NBU
database on a StorageTek D280 disksystem.
Master server is also media server and at the moment it is the only
media server I have in production.

My peak over our LAN is around 150 MB/s (using 2 NIC's that are teamed)

We backup around 70 windows clients with a total of around 1,5 TB a day.

And I have never had any performance problems with this server.

NBU is 5.1

I currently have a master server HP UX ver 11, with nbu 4.5. We would
like to go to nbu 5.1 and also are thinking about going to a linux or
windows master server. What I am looking for are server specs for a
linux or windows master server. Any helpful hints from past experience
would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
