Rockey,

I know that bprecover can be used to recover the master catalogue to the DR
server, however the issue is not about using the NetBackup server on test
as the DR server but performing monthly restores from the productions
servers to the test servers for other applications and systems to ensure
the test servers are up to date in case of a DR situation. What I would
like to achieve is to merge the production catalogue into the test
catalogue so that the images for both the test and production NetBackup
servers are present on the Test server. I am hoping that if this is
possible it is faster then importing every tape from production to test.

As for sending the catalogue tapes off site we do not do this as our DR is
in the same building (we only have one building and so if it all goes it
does not matter) but keep them in a fire proof safe in the DR.

Regards,
Daniel Lupton

Daniel,

For a true DR test, rebuild the Master with the catalog tapes your sending
offsite. Even if you lie to me, tell me you're sending a copy of your
catalog offsite. And if you're lying to me, fix the problem so you'd be
telling the truth about sending the catalogs offsite. At the DR site, use
the bprecover command, which is well documented it the Troubleshooting
Guide.

Thanks,

Rockey J. Reed

Hi All,

We are currently upgrading our DR solution and as a part of this some of
our less critical servers will use the test servers as the DR server. As
part of the we not need to perform monthly restores of the production
server to the test equivalent. Does anyone know if there is a way to export
the image catalogue from the production NetBackup server to the test
NetBackup server? This will reduce the need to import each individual tape
for the restore.

We are running NetBackup Datacenter 4.5 on Windows 2000 in both Test and
Production, however we are in the middle of a project to upgrade to version
5.1 running on Linux.

I don't think this is possible but I thought I would ask just incase.

Any help is appreciated and thank you in advance.

Regards,
Daniel Lupton
