A few different ways,

Easiest,

1. Change the mount count on the tapes, A00001 set to 1
                                        A00002 set to 2
                                        A00003 set to 3
                                        A00004 set to 4
                                        A00005 set to 5
This will alternate tapes every second night,
Netbackup uses the tapes with the lowest mount count.

2. Windows server, installpath>veritas\volmgr\bin vmchange -m A00001 -n 1
   etc...

3. Or, setup 5 media pools,

4. Move tape A00001 to one media pool, A00002 to another, A00003 to another
etc..

5. Create 5 to 7 Schedules in your backup class for Monday, Tuesday,
Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday ?
Have have each schedule use an alternate media pool for each day, -
Set retention to 1 month, or create a retention for 48 days.

6. Problems with several schedules,
    A. Cannot move assigned media to alternate pools,
    B. If one tape has issues, or is full backups will not
Attempt to run on another tape for the night, erro 96.

7. Installpath> Veritas\netbackup\bin\admincmd bpexpdate -ev A00001 -d 0

to deassign media prior to moving the tape to a media pool.

Hello,
I'm using NetBackup 5.0, and I have several tapes in a
robotic device. For example, assume each tape holds 100 GB,
and the content of each nightly backup takes 10 GB. Tapes
are labeled A00001 through A00005.
I don't want to fill up A00001 (approx 10 nights) before
backing up to another tape. Instead, I want to use once
A00001, the following night use a different tape (like
A00002) even if first one is not full. I want to leave
all tapes in the robot.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks.
Louis-Luc
