Hello Andrew,
I just had the same situation. The offical veriatas way is to delete the "old"
drive from your config (you can do in the Admin GUI) and create the new drive.
Because of the serial there is no other way as far as I know. You need to make
sure the tape is recognized by the OS and the rest should not be a big deal.

All,
I have recently replaced a tape drive in my library & now need to tell
Netabckup of the fact that the serial number has changed.
I think I need to alter the Global database, in order for the new serial number
to be recognised, but wondered if anyone had an idea of how to do this ?
Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.
