Problem resolved.

Much Thanks to Katherine.

--------------------------------------

Katherine,

You were right. The versions were mismatched.

As soon as I updated the Win2000 media manager to 3.4.1ga - all was ok

-Thanks again for your help.

And is this one tape drive also being used for NDMP backups?

It's all a game, isn't it?

Do you have a bptm log?

I had stopped and restarted the daemons on the master (numerous times)
However, I did it again.

Trying to init backups now...

Did you recycle NBU on your master after adding this host in?

bp.kill_all

And then restart ltid and bprd?

Yes.
And I configured the class to use the proper storage unit.

The Veritas SE told me that I should be able to run the command
  telnet 'media server' bprd
to verify the connection...

Media servers don't run bprd, only master servers do.

Did you add a storage unit for the Media server?

Hello Group,

I'm installing my first Media Manager system.

The master server is Solaris running NBU 3.4.1GA datacenter. The media
manager is Win2000 running NBU 3.4GA datacenter.

The bp.conf and vm.conf files on both master and media servers lists
both servers.

robtest on the media server can load/unload media.
I've configured the jukebox and tape drive on the media server. I've
added the Volume group and media on the media server. The master server
sees the jukebox and the drives on the media server.

I configured a class and attempted a backup using the media server, but
the media never loads.

I found that the media server is not listening for the "bprd (13720)"
port.

The registry shows an entry for bprd, but it doesn't start, even with a
restart.

Any ideas?
