In your example, ABC123 is a brand new tape, right?
If yes, then what you want is typically accomplished via a "barcode
rule", assuming that you add new media via the "Update Robot
Inventory" operation in the Media Management GUI nee "xvmadm".
If no, then you are talking about some sort of scripting around the
vmchange command, e.g. "vmchange -m ABC123 -p <pool-num>",
where the <pool-num> for ABCXYZ comes from the output of "vmpool -listall"
