Create each autoloader as its own storage unit, then create two classes
(policies), one for each filesystem and give each class its own storage
unit.

You can read about autoloaders & stand-alone drives in the manual.

There's some issues - like keeping very consistent retention levels,
managing the unloading of tapes after individual backups, etc. Mixing
autoloaders & robotic libraries on the same media server might be difficult.

Subject: [Veritas-bu] autoloaders

HI,

I'm thinking of getting 2 autoloaders and connecting them to our NB4.5
server.

I havn't really delt with autoloaders before.

It seems that two LTO autoloaders are way cheaper than a tape library with
two TLO tape drives.

I could foresee us using 3 LTO tapes in each of the autoloaders.

So i have a few questions..

Can i run a 6 tape rotation across two autoloaders?

Let's say I'm backing up a UNIX server with two 32GB file systems /36gb1
and /36gb2 can i have a one autoloader backup /36gb1 and the other backup
36GB2?

What are your thoughts?

Thanks,

Karl
