I see - that certainly makes sense. However, the sentence could be made more
clear by saying something like:

"NetBackup 4.5 and later releases support mixed version numbers between a
master and its media servers (all of which must be running 4.5 or above).
NetBackup 4.5 will not support media servers running previous versions of
NetBackup such as 3.4.1."

The way the sentence is worded, I could imply the following:

"NetBackup 4.5 and later releases support mixed version numbers between a 4.5
master and its media servers."

This is how I read it initially, making me think that the necessary support for
mixed versions was in the master server, not in both the master and the media
servers, making the media server version irrelevant.

In any case, everyone on this list will now know better :-)

It would also be good to point out (if it isn't already in the release notes)
that after you run the "ie5setup" program to install IE 5 (required on any NT 4
master or media server that doesn't yet have it) the machine will reboot - the
"Finish" button initiates the reboot, no questions asked. Gotta love
Microsoft...

The master and media servers must be brought to 4.5 at the same time.
Probably the admin clients too, certainly if you want to use the
activity monitor as it has gone through some architectural changes.

The release notes state:

"NetBackup 4.5 and later releases support mixed version numbers
between a master and its media servers."

What this means is that in the future you will be able to mix version
4.5 (or higher) media servers and later version master/media servers.
I don't know what the rules will be, e.g. if there will be a one level
limit, etc. The point is that you have to interpret "4.5 and later"
in just the right way - 3.4.1 and earlier servers are not included.

I knew the answer, and still had to read that section a few times.
