[Veritas-bu] NetBackup and DNS
2000-04-20 15:39:05
When the client receives a request for a restore from the master the
request comes from an IP address, the client needs to be able to
resolve this IP address back to a hostname. If reverse DNS is
out, this would cause the restore to fail with probably a Status 59,
access to client is not allowed.

Subject: [Veritas-bu] NetBackup and DNS
We have recently had some problems with DNS around here... reverse lookups
were
out for a while and we noticed that restores could not be done during this
time.
Forward (name -> IP) looks were unaffected during this time.
The question that was asked of me was why NetBackup apparantly needs to do
forward and reverse lookups on a client to be able process a restore which
was
initiated from the master?
Thanks,
Mark
