You say you need to upgrade to 7.6.3 before upgrading to 8.x but is that 
necessary if you are installing a brand new server with a fresh copy of 8.x and 
simply want to copy the configuration information, indexes and media DB's over 
to the new server?

Use the Networker Procedure Generator, it will give you general guidance to 
upgrade. You need to upgrade to 7.6.3 before you upgrade to 8.x... Yes 8.x is 
awesome, I install it every-where-I-go... /grin
