Re: [Networker] mminfo query help

It's not "NetWorker weirdness" - NetWorker relies heavily on DNS to validate
clients -
Mminfo is used to query the media database, if you have a bunch of old media
that is still in the media database that has savesets from decommissioned
servers then mminfo will try and resolve those host names, and throw a warning
if it is unable - the easiest way to speed things up and to stop these messages
is to put entries in your local host file - or you could remove the referenced
to the guests from the media database, or remove the old media from the media
database or fix up DNS so that it can resolve the host names
BUT ... you have to be mindful that you are probably retaining these backups
for a reason, and these is probably a policy that says thou shall keep backups
of decommissioned servers for x years ... and bodging up false records in your
local hosts file, or prematurely removing records and media from your media
database might make recovering that data tricky ....

Hello,
not shure, but i think this is some networker wiredness.
i think the question is why is mminfo keeping reverse dns old clients ?
shurely or probably the clients are not anymore in dns if they are dead.
for me, the problem is - besides the "warnings" - that it seems because of
reverse dns, mminfo is taking a lot of time waiting for timeouts. Why is mminfo
asking reverse dns the whole bunch of (dead) clients ?
