Francis, I can confirm this very behaviour.  (at least for v7.4.4 on 
Solaris10).  
Moreover, when you mark the clone tape as recyclable, nrsim -X returns the 
SSRETENT value of the source SSID back to what it used to be *before* cloning 
operation.  
I escalated the issue to EMC engineers (not their support group, as we are 
still in a process of implementing, which was contracted to EMC), I'll report 
back on any solutions they might have to offer.
