Yes, I have confirmed it. When a drive goes missing, the other drives maintain 
their previous name. When a drive is replaced, the name may be different and 
you will have to use jbedit to fix.

This is something I am looking at just now. I have made the registry 
change on a system using the IBM drivers. After a reboot the device 
names do change to a format such as \\.\Tape4801101, however I have not 
tested what happens when a drive goes missing. Can you confirm that it 
does in fact work?
