I think you'll need to use scanner to do this. The following doc from sun may
help (ebs = networker 7.2)
Keyword(s):clientID, scanner, index, scan, ebs
Description: Top
When using scanner to scan in a client index, it creates an odd client name in
the format of ~<client_name>-#, i.e. ~foo-1
Document Body: Top
When using scanner to scan in an index, you expect it to create an index for
<client_name>, but instead it creates an index for ~<client_name>-#. This
occurs when both of the following apply:
1. scanner is being used to import a client index that was backed up on a
different EBS Server
2. The client name is the same on both EBS servers
For example, you want to scan in foo's index from ServerA to ServerB
EBS ServerA
-client_name = foo
-volume_name = barcodeA (foo's index is on barcodeA)
EBS ServerB <-------scanner command run on this server against volume barcodeA
-client_name = foo
So, someone takes the tape labeled barcodeA (from ServerA), mounts it in
ServerB's tape device, and runs "scanner -i -c foo"
You can see that ServerB already has a client named foo. Starting with version
6.x, EBS introduced the concept of clientIDs. When you create a client, EBS
assignes a clientID, such as:
client_name -> clientID of 44038497-00000004-3d0f6210-3d0f62f2-00590000-ce38fa06
They can be viewed via nwadmin -> clients -> client setup -> view details ->
Client ID attribute.
Scanner uses the clientID rather than the client_name to identify clients
If the client_name is the same as in the example above, you must do one of the
following:
a. Create a new client by using the client ID and a unique name for the client.
The client?s name must have the format ~hostname-#.
b. Rename the existing client by following the procedure found at ?To Change a
Client Name? on page 117 (EBS 7.2 Administrator's Guide) and then create a new
client by using the client ID from the previous server.
NOTE: If you don't use either option, and run scanner, it will work, but EBS
will assign the client name in the format of ~<client_name>-# (hence, EBS
creating odd client names when running scanner).
This is *well* documented in the EBS 7.2 Administrator's Guide, pp. 324
"Importing Save Set Information with the Scanner Program" if you need more
information.
