what he is discribing by coping old nsr directory to new server and 
renaming with nsrck -L6 will work, the only catch is that you will have to 
recreiate if you have a new tape library or different devices then the 
original after that step.
I hvae done this and it worked well.
narck -L7 and mmrecov will do the same but would take you longer, also you 
have your old data online so the privious steps is easy, if you were at DR 
and only recovering from tapes, mmrecov is the way to go.
