We use mixed media and yes it works.
1. Lable appropriate tape to right pool.( or Auto media managment enabled)
If you are using AMM, you should also look at the pool setting related to 
recycle from and to other pools tab.
2. Create and assign correct pool to a Group.
3. Networker will do the rest.
