Hi,

I have an odd question about upgrading a Networker server v6.1.3 to
v7.1.3.

Does the upgrade do anything specifically to the client indexes or media
indexes? Would it be theoretically possible to take the client and
media index files, after the upgrade from v6.1.3 to v7.1.3, and use them
on a v6.1.3 installation?

I know that the nsr config files are not capable of this because of the
new directory structure for them, but how about the client and media
indexes?

This question is leading to the case where we upgrade to v7.1.3, but at
some point down the road, before we can retire our old Netware v5.00
servers, we need to do a saveset recover to one of them. Running the
latest Networker Netware client (v4.22) on Netware v5.00 is not an
option (v4.15 of the Networker Netware client is the last one supported
for Netware 5.00).

This specific issue is the last roadblock to us simply taking the plunge
to 7.1.3. While the upgrade will allow us to do saveset recovers to our
newer Netware servers (v6.x), our old Netware v5.00 servers are left in
the dust.

If that is not possible, would it be doable that, in the event of a
disaster, to reinstall the old Netware v5.00 server with Netware v6.x,
install the Networker Netware client v4.22, keep the same hostname and
Netware name as it had with Netware v5.00, and then do a saveset
recovery that way?
