You shouldn't need a license for a local restore from a single tape
drive.

Hmm.  What launches the daemons on a storage node?  (I don't have one
installed).  If it's not nsrd, then simply moving it aside may be
sufficient.

If it is, how does nsrd tell the difference between a master and a
storage node?

DG: Rather than uninstalling the LGTOsrvr,just edit 
/etc/init.d/rc2.d/S95networker (if solaris), and remark out the line that 
starts nsrd. Just remember your config in case you patch it, since that could 
overwrite the init file, which would enable nsrd.

DG: nsrd on the backup server communicates with nsrexecd on the client, and it 
is nsrexecd on the client that starts up nsrmmd. So the only process that needs 
to be running on the storage node is nsrexecd, although you have to have the 
correct LGTOnode installed.
