No.

NetWorker uses RPC, which has built-in versioning for the
client server protocol.  When the 6.x versions of the
protocol was added, a tremendous amount of work went into
making sure the older protocols would continue to work correctly.

Newer clients will attempt to connect with the newer
protocol first and fall back if it is not available.
Older clients will connect using the older version with
a newer server directly.

With both sides implementing the different protocol
versions correctly, everything is OK.  You just don't
get newer features is all.
