This is true also for LSI Logic Storage systems.

The raid manager application is really a OEM version of LSI Logic´s
SYMplicity Stoage MAnager, later called SANtricity Storage Manager.

If you are running raid manager or SANtricity storage manager, this is what
you need to to to speed up the inquire and jbconfig commands( the boot
process and hot_add is also speeded up):

1. Edit the /kernel/drv/rdnexus.conf

to hold entries 0-10 (delete entry 11-63).

Note: There needs to be an rdnexus entry for each true scsi bus in the
system. So if you have more than 11 scsi or Fc hba´s you nedd to add entries
for to match teh number of HBA´s that you have installed in the system.

The reason for the rdnexus file to hold 64 entries is to be able so support
en E10000 that is fully loaded with 64 scsi adapters.

2. Edit /kernel/drv/sd.conf to hold only the luns and targets that you
really are using or will use in the near future.

All the additional targets and luns that Raid Manager and SANtricity Storage
MAanger puts in there really slows down the inquire and jbconfig commands.

A reboot of the system is nessecary after these modifications.

Just FYI, there was an issue with Sun's RAID Mgr 6.2.2 and Legato 6.x,
which was addressed in a bugID (sorry, can't remember which right now) on
SunSolve. It had to do with device handle contentions, which were
resolved when Sun came out with RAID Mgr. 6.2.2.1. When I was running
6.2.2 and NetWorker 6.x, my jbconfigs and inquires would take upwards of 1
hour to complete, for an 8-drive, direct-attached tape library. When I
moved to 6.2.2.1, they completed in about 15 seconds. YMMV.

My config are large LUN's (100-200 disks on at least 2 HBA's) & FC
connected (via JNI HBA's). I do not have RM (Raid Manager) installed.
Inquire takes a terribly long time to finish ('days' if left), inquire
uses high cpu cycles, SmartMedia DCP's start verrry slow and/or Networker
DDS most of the tme breaks. On a Solaris 2.6 boxen, my inquire / jbconfig
goes normally, Either SmartMedia DCP's or Network DDS operations are fast
and do not consume high CPU cycles.

Looked on SunSolve and Legato TechBuls??? and nada. Any ideas Senores y
Senoras?
