Hwan, Here's my private vlan setup, for what its worth:
Networker server has two NICs, SERVER (hme0 - primary) and SERVER_CR (hme1 -
secondary). The clients also have two NICs, CLIENT (hme0 - primary) and
CLIENT_CR (hme1 - secondary). When installing the client software I configure
both SERVER and SERVER_CR as known servers. When setting up the client via the
NWADMIN GUI you name the client with its real name, i.e CLIENTand you enter
SERVER_CR in the Server Network Interface section. You won't see this unless
you select View - Details. You may also want to enter the SERVER_CR and its
I.P. address in your clients /etc/hosts file and the CLIENT_CR entry in your
servers /etc/hosts file. BTY, you can configure the server list by editing the
/etc/init.d/networker file on your clients.
Hope this helps,
Edward Ortiz.

Hello
Anyone out there follow this doc in configuring a private backup LAN?
http://www.legato.com/resources/bulletins/302.html
This was written in '97 so I guess the info must be pretty old.
1. I am using 6.1.1. Following the manual in configuring a new client
(B_new) by entering the old client id (old hostname being B), it seems the
client id changes whenever I press "apply"
2. How could I start up in the new client if I would like the client
hostname to remain as B, ie B_new is entered in /etc/hostname.hme1 but the
server boots up as B as hostname. Is this possible.
Please share if you manage to configure a private backup LAN.
Many thanks...
Regards
Hwan Meng
