We are currently using the community edition 5.2.13 on Ubuntu 14.04LTS.
We are looking are upgrading to the latest 7 version and upgrading to
Ubuntu 16.04LTS. We are not looking at an in-place upgrade, but instead
we are looking at wiping the machine and will reconfigure it for RAID-10
(as opposed to RAID-5). Our current backup scenario is to backup to
disks and then copy to tapes. The volumes on disk are only for the most
recent backups (e.g., last month) so we don't mind them disappearing
since we have copies on tape. However, I wanted to run this upgrade
scenario by the list to see if there is anything we need to watch out
for. Essentially, we plan on doing the following:
1. Convert from RAID-10 to RAID-5 of bacula server.
2. Install Ubuntu 16.04 LTS
3. Install Bacula (community version 7.XX)
4. Use BSCAN to recreate our Bacula catalog
My main concern is if we recreate the catalog from the tapes and the
tapes were marked as COPY, will we still be able to restore from them if
need be in the future (since the disk volumes that were marked BACKUP
are gone)?
