Hello,

One of the great things about communities is the way they help others.
That's why mailing lists and public forums exist. You ask for help, you
get help.

What's great about this help is that it is recorded on the mailing list
for future reference. Frequently, a problem can be solved by searching
the previous replies. Many a time I have found the solution with a good
Google search. Those public responses also ensure that the advice
provided is peer-reviewed. If a better solution exists, someone will be
sure to follow up. If the advice is wrong or not wise, you can be sure
that someone will point it out.

This review and its public nature ensure that you get good sound advice.
It's much harder for someone to steer you wrong if what they say is out
there for everyone to review.

Why do I mention this? Because I can.
