Hi,

Short question:
How to restore catalog data for a single job with bscan?

Description:
A job was spread across three LTO 5 volumes. This volumes were used by
several job at the same time without spooling, so data is mixed on tapes.
Except one job, all other jobs were manually deleted. The three volumes
were move into a Archive pool (not in use for any scheduled backup). The
retention time was not adjusted and during the next scheduled backup the
volumes were purged ... The bootstrap file of the mistakenly deleted job
is available. The following bscan command was used to restore the catalog
data for the job

  bscan -s -m -c bacula-sd.conf -v -b job_bootstrap_file /dev/nst0

The output shows the missing job and in Jobs Running tab of BAT the new
job is in state running. But bscan just runs further. Monitoring of the
tape drive shows read activity.

Will bscan read all three LTO5 volumes to restore the catalog data? Hm, it
makes sense to get a full list of all files of this backup.

So, it's possible to restore only job and media data for the catalog and
not files?

Is bscan the right tool?

Thanks,
