I periodically get tape error messages via email and from the bacula log files. Most of them look something like this…
19-Jan 08:59 bacula02-sd JobId 913: Error: block.c:1016 Read error on fd=8 at file:blk 0:0 on device "Drive1" (/dev/nst0). ERR=Input/output error.
19-Jan 09:04 bacula02-sd JobId 913: Error: block.c:1016 Read error on fd=8 at file:blk 0:0 on device "Drive1" (/dev/nst0). ERR=Input/output error.
19-Jan 09:09 bacula02-sd JobId 913: Error: block.c:1016 Read error on fd=8 at file:blk 0:0 on device "Drive1" (/dev/nst0). ERR=Input/output error.
Note: that there is no volume name in the logged line, same as with email.
My question is… How do I find the volume/s that triggered these messages and second, how can I test to verify the tape is faulty or not?
Thanks,
JJ
