Fair enough. The most obvious cause has been this same problem occurring
previously, where the tape Bacula wanted to
use wasn't available, but it Recycled it and waited for it to become available.
Depending on when it was caught, we
have either cancelled the running job (it hit working hours), or managed to get
Bacula to use an available tape. I
don't believe that there is any difference in later behaviour based on how we
resolved the stuck job, but I haven't kept
that level of notes.

Obviously though, there must be a root cause for the first tape to do this to
start the "cycle". Can't say for sure,
but it was most likely the local operator failing to "update slots", so Bacula
tried to load a tape that the catalog
said was in slot X, but which wasn't anywhere near the tape changer. Again, it
had Recycled it before loading.

Does that shed any light?

Craig
