Hello,

I´m using Winbacula 2.4.3 on a HP Proliant 350ML Server with an HP LTO2 Tape Drive.
I have 4 jobs,
- the Windows 2003 Server with Bacula and the Tape Drive
- an Dell PE2900 Server with SLES10 x64
- an e-mail Server with Gentoo
- the backup of the SQLite Catalog on the Windows 2003 Server.

the first Job runs well...
08-May 23:50 tsrwr-dir JobId 43: BeforeJob: run command "sysstate.cmd"
09-May 01:28 tsrwr-dir JobId 43: Bacula tsrwr-dir 2.4.3 (10Oct08): 09-May-2009 01:28:08
Start time: 08-May-2009 23:51:35

End time: 09-May-2009 01:28:08
Elapsed time: 1 hour 36 mins 33 secs
SD Bytes Written: 111,109,345,815 (111.1 GB)
Rate: 19172.8 KB/s
Termination: Backup OK

the second Job takes 1hour, 39 minutes to position the tape to the end of the volume:
09-May 01:28 tsrwr-dir JobId 44: Start Backup JobId 44, Job=wtserver.2009-05-08_23.50.45
09-May 01:29 tsrwr-sd JobId 44: Volume "Sexta2" previously written, moving to end of data.
09-May 03:08 tsrwr-sd JobId 44: Ready to append to end of Volume "Sexta2" at file=112.

09-May 05:02 tsrwr-dir JobId 44: Bacula tsrwr-dir 2.4.3 (10Oct08): 09-May-2009 05:02:42
Start time: 09-May-2009 01:28:10
End time: 09-May-2009 05:02:42

the third Job take 2hours, 52 minutes to position the tape to the end of the volume:
09-May 05:02 tsrwr-dir JobId 45: Start Backup JobId 45, Job=mail.2009-05-08_23.50.46
09-May 05:03 tsrwr-sd JobId 45: Volume "Sexta2" previously written, moving to end of data.
09-May 07:55 tsrwr-sd JobId 45: Ready to append to end of Volume "Sexta2" at file=189.

09-May 08:41 tsrwr-dir JobId 45: Bacula tsrwr-dir 2.4.3 (10Oct08): 09-May-2009 08:41:26
Start time: 09-May-2009 05:02:44
End time: 09-May-2009 08:41:26

and the fourth Job takes 3 hours to position the tape to the end of the volume:
09-May 08:41 tsrwr-dir JobId 46: BeforeJob: run command make_catalog_backup
09-May 08:42 tsrwr-dir JobId 46: Start Backup JobId 46, Job=BackupCatalog.2009-05-08_23.59.47
09-May 08:43 tsrwr-sd JobId 46: Volume "Sexta2" previously written, moving to end of data.

09-May 11:46 tsrwr-sd JobId 46: Ready to append to end of Volume "Sexta2" at file=201.
09-May 11:46 tsrwr-dir JobId 46: Bacula tsrwr-dir 2.4.3 (10Oct08): 09-May-2009 11:46:51
Start time: 09-May-2009 08:42:15

End time: 09-May-2009 11:46:51

It take 4 seconds, do record the database file of 200 MB to the tape, but 3:03 hours to
position the tape !!!!

could this be a tape unit failure ? the btape test cycle run without problems.

on another site, I use WinBacula 2.2.8 on a Dell PE2900 and a Ultrium LTO3 tape.
there it take 3 minutes to position the tape to the 2nd job ( 16 GB / file=17 )
and 8 minutes to position the tape do the 3rd job ( 55 GB / file = 73 )

Any ideas ??
