Thanks for the detailed reply...
I recognize that I could use knoppix (or other) to do the recovery as you
mentioned...I was just hoping to be able to make the cd for that system easily
without mucking around too much.
I guess I have spent too much time already trying to get things to work, so
will resort to the method you have mentioned. It just irks me to be so close,
and not be able to find a reason that it cant start from the RAM FS.
such is life.
