Yes. I have had this configuration since at least 2004 and I have
completed 10000 jobs this way. Currently all of my bacula servers are
64 bit while most of the clients are 32 bit.

Is the bacula -fd running on 192.168.18.40? Do the passwords in the
bacula configuration files match?
