Hello BackupPC people

I've been running BackupPC for a few years, backing up assorted machines
on my home network.

Recently I've noticed that it no longer reports any "New Files" in the
File Size/Count Reuse Summary.

Here's a typical table (edited, removing the Totals columns, to make it
fit):

                  Existing Files New Files
Backup# Type #Files Size/MB #Files Size/MB
593 full 825204 236759.2 1469 953.7
618 full 825674 233138.7 3654 1131.9
645 full 781402 233970.1 0.0
672 full 795100 246194.7 0.0
680 full 797542 240768.9 0.0
685 full 797997 249227.5 0.0
692 full 521799 37079.7 0.0
693 incr 60955 783.8 0.0
694 incr 61181 784.2 0.0
695 incr 60683 801.1 0.0
696 incr 65160 821.8 0.0
697 incr 65168 821.8 0.0
698 incr 65254 822.4 0.0

Backup 618 is dated 9 Feb 2010, no. 645 is dated 9 March 2010. Did
something change between those two dates?

I've also noticed apparent discrepancies in the server status:

# Pool is 264.30GB comprising 1735933 files and 4369 directories (as of
22/5 01:56),
# Pool hashing gives 315 repeated files with longest chain 5,
# Nightly cleanup removed 14 files of size 0.02GB (around 22/5 01:56),
# Pool file system was recently at 89% (22/5 11:37), today's max is 91%
(22/5 02:54) and yesterday's max was 91%.

The nightly cleanup doesn't seem to remove as much as I'd expect -- I
deleted several large (> 1GB) files from all backups of some of the
hosts yesterday, but that hasn't shown up in the nightly cleanup.

The server is running Ubuntu 10.04 with BackupPC 3.1.0. It was upgraded
from Ubuntu 9.10 recently -- at about the time of backup no. 692. That
upgrade didn't involve a major change of version number for BackupPC.

Is there a way to force BackupPC to thoroughly re-evaluate the backup
pool and recalculate all its statistics?

cheers

Chris
