Very nice.I begin to undestand why fuse  :)

On ubuntu 8.04.2, backuppc 3.0.0, I joined backuppc user to fuse group

created /mnt/fuse/backuppc
chown :fuse /mnt/fuse/backuppc
chmod g+w /mnt/fuse/backuppc

user_allow_other on /etc/fuse.conf

changed to backuppc user and run
./backuppcfs.pl /mnt/fuse/backuppc

and I was browsing the backup files.

Some minor problems accessing some dirs (home dirs), guessing unexistent uid on this machine. I'm not using ldap.

Thanks.
PS: Tried first http://www.unixtastic.com/software/backuppc-fuse.html, didn't work so well.

While others have mentioned using BackupPC_zcat, there is another very
slick solution using the FUSE filesystem that basically allows you to
mount, navigate/browse, and read all your backups as a single
filesystem.
Advanatages include:
- Not having to worry about the f-mangling of filenames
- Automatic decompression of files when reading them
- Links to 'latest' and 'oldest' backups

You can probably find the code in the Wikki or by browsing the mailing
list archive

This is way to general a question - so I guess the answer is 'yes'.
If you have a specific question, formulate it and people can try to
respond.
