While others have mentioned using BackupPC_zcat, there is another very
slick solution using the FUSE filesystem that basically allows you to
mount, navigate/browse, and read all your backups as a single
filesystem.
Advanatages include:
- Not having to worry about the f-mangling of filenames
- Automatic decompression of files when reading them
- Links to 'latest' and 'oldest' backups

You can probably find the code in the Wikki or by browsing the mailing
list archive
