Version 3.1.0 is getting a bit long in the tooth (2+ years old) with a
number of important bugfixes added since then.

Also, 3.2.0beta0 has been out for almost 8 months and based on the
traffic on this mailing list seems to be rock stable.

The reason I ask, is that it would be nice to get the latest version
into the official distros and some distros seem to shy away from
upgrading to beta releases...
